Flying in the Vail Valley
When visiting the Vail Valley, you basically have two choices in terms of airports.
One, you can use Denver, which is around a 2 hr drive. The other option is the Eagle/Vail airport, which is about 30 minutes from Vail. The Denver airport typically has much cheaper fares. It also gives you a time buffer to line up Vail ski rentals, lodging or anything else.
On the downside, if the weather is inclement, the drive can be very slow going. Personally, I like to travel from the Eagle/Vail airport. It has free parking and its easily accessible from anywhere in the Valley.
Besides, they also have direct flights to NYC, which is my most likely destination. While it can be more expensive then Denver, you save on parking and also on transportation to your destination. Fly into Eagle, get your Vail ski rentals delivered, and make your visit that much more enjoyable.
