Mozilla has started spreading a new beta release of Firefox 3.6 to worldwide ftp mirror sites only a day after releasing updates for their Firefox 3.1 and 3.5 web browser series. The new version of the web browser is as usually available for all supported operating systems and languages. The release notes lead to a non existing page at the moment which makes it difficulty to find information on the changes that have been introduced in the new beta version.

The missing release notes are an indication that it will take anywhere from 24-48 hours before the new version of Firefox 3.6 will get officially announced by Mozilla. This will also be the time frame for the discovery of the new version by the automatic update check in the web browser.

The new beta release could be related to the updates yesterday which would suggest that the update fixes security and stability issues in Firefox 3.6. The only option to know for sure is to wait until the developers are publishing information on the Mozilla website.

Users who want to update the web browser right away need to wait until it gets posted on various download portals which usually pick up the new releases faster than the official Mozilla page.

The Mozilla developers have released a total of three beta versions of the upcoming web browser Firefox 3.6 in November so far. The latest version Firefox 3.6 Beta 4 was just released and is now available for download at the official Mozilla website and through the “check for updates” option in the Firefox web browser itself.

The new version of Firefox fixes 140 bugs of which two have been rated as blocker and 21 as critical. It is therefor recommended for Firefox 3.6 beta users to update their web browser as soon as possible to fix the bugs and make the web browser more stable. Most of the bugs – if not all – seem to be stability bug fixes that fix possible crashes that can happen under certain circumstances in the older beta versions.

Firefox users who are interested in all the fixes in this new version can check out the detailed bug lists over at Bugzilla. About a quarter of the installed add-ons were not compatible on our test system including popular add-ons like Greasemonkey. It was however no problem to force compatibility with the Nightly Tester Tools add-on.

The Mozilla Firefox beta page lists downloads for all supported operating systems and languages.

Next time you tilt your laptop, the web page on your screen might just move accordingly. Well, maybe not, but Mozilla developers will definitely let web developers access laptop orientation information in the upcoming Firefox 3.6 release.

According to a blog post by Mozilla evangelist Christopher Blizzard, one new feature that we’re including as part of Firefox 3.6 is support for web pages to access machine orientation information if it’s available.

Here’s a few more details about the new feature coming to Firefox:

Originally built as something that we would include for our upcoming mobile browser release, we’ve made it available on desktop systems as well. Many modern Macbooks and Thinkpads contain devices and drivers that expose this information. We’ve added support for Linux, Macs and some Thinkpads where drivers and devices are available.

You can view more information from here. A beta release of Firefox 3.6 may come out later today, if a Mozilla development schedule we saw last week still holds true.

Firefox is becoming more and more popular among all web browsers. Millions of people use it and abuse it. It’s quick, estable, secure, and best of all: updated frequently.

When it comes to updates, Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Beta will be released next Tuesday, on October 13th, 2009. As we know, the upgrade is not drastic, and you won’t find any jaw-dropping features. However, the update is expected to improve the TraceMonkey javascript engine, include some improvements to the CSS rendering engine, and contain an optimized session restore, which is really helpful to improve the function of Firefox.

Mozilla team is not in any rush to release the Beta by next Tuesday, however — so there’s a slight chance it might not be released on that day if things don’t go accordingly.

Major improvements are expected to be saved for Firefox 4, which is to be released next year.

Mozilla tentatively plans to release the first beta of Firefox 3.6 on 13 October. According to Mozilla, Mozilla is set to launch the first beta version of Firefox 3.6 on Tuesday, October 13th. The next version of the popular Firefox web browser will include faster Javascript handling, built-in bookmark synchronization, and support for new light weight themes.

For the most part, Firefox 3.6 will look a lot like version 3.5 of the browser. Mozilla is holding off on a major visual refresh until Firefox 4.0 is released sometime next year. But the update should bring a better session restore, improved page rendering, and overall faster performance and better stability.

Firefox 3.6 won’t be a major update. After 3.6, Mozilla will release Firefox 3.7 early next year, with major update Firefox 4.0 due out in the second half of 2010.
